Over the years I have become a globetrotter and more selective of the things I pack. Ultimately who wants to break their back carrying things they don’t need? Aside from clothing, here are the 10 things that I don’t travel without and neither should you.

For active noise cancellation, I prefer AirPods. They are sleek, convenient, don’t take up much space and checks off all the boxes for me. The Apple AirPods are great for those pesky meetings you can’t shake off while travelling or to drown construction noises.
It goes without saying you want multiple copies (both digital and hard copies) of your travel documents and you absolutely should share at least a digital copy with your loved ones.
The last thing you want when you’re traveling is a phone that is running out of juice. I have used the Anker brand for nearly a decade, and have yet to have a bad experience. The products are durable, not heavy and if my phone did not change to a different charging cable, I’d still be using the one I purchased a decade ago. This is the one I recently upgraded to and love.
When it comes to travel, having the right cards can make all the difference. I use cards that avoid the dreaded 3% foreign transaction fees that often come with using a credit card. Plus, with a debit card that lets me withdraw cash from any ATM in the world without additional fees, I never have to worry about finding a currency exchange.
I like to keep things simple and carry the least number of things I possibly can. A travel adapter is one of those things I cannot travel without, and neither should you.
I’ll be the first to admit I did not travel with travel insurance until late 2022. I figured I am young, I don’t need travel insurance. Well, I was wrong. Accidents don’t discriminate against age. I had a family member who had to undergo an emergent spinal surgery and it would have certainly helped if they had travel insurance at the time.
This usually applies if I am traveling internationally. I get to put local delicacies to bring back home as gifts for loved ones (such as the Dutch cheese, or the beloved Spanish Olive Oil and Olives). I can pack those in the Rimowa luggage and transfer my clothes to the duffel bag. This duffel bag meets most airline and train carry-on requirements and is foldable so it doesn’t take much space in the event you don’t want to use it.
