The relaxed and luxurious atmosphere of Raes on Wategos in Byron Bay has consistently attracted enthusiasts of boutique hotels. For those who appreciate this beachside retreat, keep an eye out for its latest venture: The Bonobo by Raes, an apartment-hotel concept. Featuring forty-one two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments, these accommodations offer a stylish alternative perfect for extended stays or small group getaways. Boasting a rooftop pool, bars, restaurants, and shops surrounding its central courtyard, this new spot in Byron Bay is poised to become a destination in its own right.
Enthusiasts of The Standard brand will soon have the opportunity to immerse themselves in its distinctive and bold hospitality approach within the trendy Fitzroy neighborhood of Melbourne. The inviting and thoughtfully designed rooms at The StandardX, Melbourne extend a welcoming invitation to guests to embrace authenticity. In typical Standard fashion, visitors can anticipate a variety of on-site dining options, featuring a Thai restaurant and a Mexican establishment. This destination is particularly appealing for the sociable traveler who enjoys connecting with fellow guests.
Situated within one of Melbourne’s most iconic new structures, this recently inaugurated 500-room hotel boasts a scenic view of the elegant Carlton Gardens. The hotel presents three levels of amenities, encompassing a sky lobby, upscale dining options, a spa, fitness center, and a pool.
Despite being a globally acclaimed city, Sydney surprisingly lacks an abundance of luxury hotels. Hence, the introduction of the Hilton-owned Waldorf at the prominent One Circular Quay development in the heart of the CBD is warmly embraced. This 28-floor, 220-room hotel occupies a prime location with captivating views of the bridge and the harbor, including superior Opera House vistas—surpassing even the longstanding claimant of that honor, the Park Hyatt, positioned at ground level on the opposite side of the harbor from the iconic landmark. The design of the hotel tower will be curated by Kengo Kuma and his team, promising an aesthetic characterized by ample use of wood and natural elements.
In January four years ago, the island off the coast of South Australia endured devastating bushfires that claimed the lives of numerous native creatures and razed various structures, including this hotel. The 25-suite property has since been reconstructed in the exact same location, but with a minor adjustment to optimize the views from its clifftop position, elevated over 130 feet above the tumultuous ocean waves. The notable addition to Southern Ocean Lodge 2.0 is the newly built, nearly 7,000-square-foot Ocean Pavilion, featuring four bedrooms as an upgraded counterpart to a penthouse. Nestled in a secluded spot, it comes complete with plunge pools, fireplaces, and equally breathtaking views.
Nestled in the core of the Southern Alps in New Zealand, Flockhill, home to six private ski fields, is set to unveil 14 one-bedroom villas and suites in 2024. Located just 90 minutes outside of Christchurch, visitors to this destination can enjoy access to two private trout fishing streams on the property, explore deep caves, and embark on trekking adventures amidst an extraordinary landscape. Notably, this area served as the filming location for the Battle in Narnia.
Situated along Waitemata Harbour in one of Auckland’s most esteemed locations, the InterContinental Auckland is perfectly situated for a refined retreat, whether it’s for business or leisure. Offering everything you could require under one roof, the hotel features 139 rooms and seventeen suites, providing panoramic views of both the city and the harbor. It also boasts a rooftop bar, a signature restaurant, and an exclusive lounge catering to Club InterContinental guests. Moreover, the popular shopping and dining hub of Commercial Bay is conveniently located just a short distance away.
Reopening after undergoing a comprehensive renovation, the new Huka maintains its reverence for its history and surroundings. However, it will now showcase floor-to-ceiling windows and expansive doors, capitalizing on the lodge’s picturesque riverside location. The addition of a River Room, complete with a double-sided fireplace, and the significant expansion of the north terrace, featuring modern glass-roofed pergolas, are notable enhancements. Furthermore, all 20 rooms in the lodge will undergo refurbishment, and a dedicated spa will be introduced in the new “Huka Huts.”
